— Paton edition

Impious man, thou hast the sea and the mountains
and rejoicest in possession of fields rich in corn and
herds of cattle, yea and talents of gold and silver
and precious stones and the silk-worm’s delicate
threads. To the living everything is valuable, but
to the dead only their little but beloved grave-stones,
and thou layest hold of them too, not even rever-
encing thine own tomb, which some otlu'r will
destroy after thy example, but with juster hands.
