Le pêcheur Ménestratos fut tué par la proie de son roseau, tirée par les six crins de sa ligne, lorsqu'ouvrant la bouche devant l'appât meurtrier et errant de l'hameçon, un petit muge rouge eut tressailli au contact du piège pointu. Brisé sous la dent du pêcheur, il le tua, en plongeant d'un bond rapide à l'intérieur du gosier glissant.
