Κέρβερε δειμαλέην ὑλακὴν νεκύεσσιν ἰάλλων,
ἤδη φρικαλέον δείδιθι καὶ σὺ νέκυν:
Ἀρχίλοχος τέθνηκε: φυλάσσεο θυμὸν ἰάμβων
δριμύν, πικροχόλου τικτόμενον στόματος.

οἶσθα βοῆς κείνοιο μέγα σθένος, εὖτε Λυκάμβεω
νηῦς μία σοι δισσὰς ἤγαγε θυγατέρας.

Cerbero, adesso paura d'un morto terribile colga
te che fra i morti orrendamente latri.
Ora Archiloco è morto: tu bada alla collera aguzza
