πολλάκι τῷδ᾽ ὀλοφυδνὰ κόρας ἐπὶ σάματι Κλείνα
μάτηρ ὠκύμορον παῖδ᾽ ἐβόασε φίλαν,
ψυχὰν ἀγκαλέουσα Φιλαινίδος, ἃ πρὸ γάμοιο
χλωρὸν ὑπὲρ ποταμοῦ χεῦμ᾽ Ἀχέροντος ἔβα.

Often on this her daughter's tomb did Cleina call
on her dear short-lived child in wailing tones, summoning
back the soul of Philaenis, who ere her
wedding passed across the pale stream of Acheron.
