καὶ πῶς εἰ μὴ Φοῖβος ἀν᾽ Ἑλλάδα φύσε Πλάτωνα,
ψυχὰς ἀνθρώπων γράμμασιν ἠκέσατο;
καὶ γὰρ ὁ τοῦδε γεγὼς Ἀσκληπιός ἐστιν ἰητὴρ
σώματος, ὡς ψυχῆς ἀθανάτοιο Πλάτων.

Come, se non generando Platone nell'Ellade, Febo sanato avrebbe l'uomo con le lettere? Perchè se Asclepio suo figlio dei corpi è medico, tale è Platone per l'anima immortale.

could he cure men ' s souls by letters ? For his son
Asclepius is the healer of the body , as Plato is of the
immortal soul .
