οὗτος ὁ πρὶν μακάρεσσι συνέστιος, οὗτος ὁ νηδὺν
πολλάκι νεκταρέου πλησάμενος πόματος,
νῦν λιβάδος θνητῆς ἱμείρεται: ἡ φθονερὴ δὲ
κρᾶσις ἀεὶ χείλευς ἐστὶ ταπεινοτέρη.


πῖνε, λέγει τὸ τόρευμα,
καὶ ὄργια μάνθανε σιγῆς:

οἱ γλώσσῃ προπετεῖς ταῦτα κολαζόμεθα.
