χάλκεα ἔργα, λέγοισθε θοῆς ἐπινίκια πώλου,
ἥτις κεντροραγὴς βαλοῦσα παῖδα,

ψιλὴ λευρὸν ἔθυσε περὶ δρόμον. ἐκ δ᾽ ἄρ᾽ ἐκείνου
Παρμένων χρυσέης κύρησε νίκης.

Φώκριτε, σῷ δ᾽ ἄρα παιδὶ Ἀμυκλαΐδαι ^ βασιλῆες
πατρῴων ἔδοσαν λαχεῖν ἀέθλων.

Les Belles Lettres t. XII p. 20 "Parménon : comme il est le propriétaire de la jument célébrée dans l’épigramme, les critiques jugent improbable que ce nom soit aussi celui de l’auteur."

Utet, t. III, p. 207 : "Parmenonte, il vincitore, è stato identificato erroneamente con l'autore, come ritiene anche Page, Further Greek Epigrams p. 74, del quale peraltro Morello, Il tredicetimo libro p. 263 n. I non accoglie le riserve sulla struttura metrica."

Page, Further Greek Epigrams p. 74 : "Though the name is not rare, it is rather more probable that the heading Παρμένοντος was derive from Παρμένων in the text than that both the dedicator and the poet were named 'Parmenon'. If the author was so called, we know no more about him; there is no particular reason to identify him with the iambiographer whose fragments are assembled in Powell Coll. Alex. 237-8 and Diehl ALG 3.136-7; cf. RE 18.4.1572."
