Peindre l'âme est ardu; dessiner une forme, c'est plus simple. Or, chez toi, pour l'un et l'autre, c'est juste le contraire. Car, à la difformité de ton âme, en l'extériorisant, la Nature a conféré des formes sensibles. Mais, l'incohérence de ton apparence, l'insolence de ton physique, comment pourrait-on les peindre? On ne peut même pas les regarder!

opposite. For Nature, bringing outside the perver-
sity of your soul, has wrought so that it is a visible
object ; but as for the tumult of your person and the
offensiveness of your body, how could one paint it
when one does not even wish to look on it ?
