ἰχθῦν ὁ γρυπὸς Σωσίπτολις οὐκ ἀγοράζει,

οὐ λίνον, οὐ κάλαμον προσάγων, τῇ ῥινὶ δὲ προσθεὶς
ἄγκιστρον, σύρει πάντα τὰ νηχόμενα.
Du poisson? Sosiptolis, l'homme au nez crochu n'en achète pas: sans bourse délier, c'est de la mer qu'il tire bonne chère. Il ne se munit ni de fil, ni de gaule: à son nez, il adapte un hameçon, et tout ce qui nage, il le pêche!
