τῷ πατρί μου τὸν ἀδελφὸν οἱ ἀστρολόγοι μακρόγηρων
πάντες ἐμαντεύσανθ᾽ ὡς ἀφ᾽ ἑνὸς στόματος:
ἀλλ᾽ Ἑρμοκλείδης αὐτὸν μόνος εἶπε πρόμοιρον
εἶπε δ᾽, ὅτ᾽ αὐτὸν ἔσω νεκρὸν ἐκοπτόμεθα.

All the astrologers as it were with one voice
prophesied to my father a ripe old age for his
brother. Hermoclides alone foretold his premature death, but he foretold it when we were lamenting over his corpse in the house.
