αὐτὸς ὁ βοῦς ἱκέτης ἐπιβώμιος, αἰθέριε Ζεῦ,
μυκᾶται, ψυχὴν ῥυόμενος θανάτου.
ἀλλὰ μέθες, Κρονίδη, τὸν ἀροτρέα:
καὶ σὺ γὰρ᾽ αὐτὸς
πορθμεὺς Εὐρώπης ταῦρος, ἄναξ, ἐγένου.

Zeus who dwellest in heaven, the ox itself, a
suppliant at thy altar, lows, begging to be saved
from death. Release the plougher, son of Cronos ;
for thou thyself, Ο king, didst become a bull to
bear Europa across the sea.
