— Paton edition

A hound was pressing hotly on a swift-footed hare
that had just freed itself from the toils of the net.
The hare, rapidly turning away from the rough hill,
leapt, to avoid the dog's jaws, into the deep water
near the shore, where a sea-dog with one snap caught
it at once in his teeth. The poor hare was evidently
destined to be dog's meat.
