Νικόπολιν Μαράθωνις ἐθήκατο τῇδ᾽ ἐνὶ πέτρῃ,
ὀμβρήσας δακρύοις λάρνακα μαρμαρέην.
ἀλλ᾽ οὐδὲν πλέον ἔσχε: τί γὰρ πλέον ἀνέρι κήδευς
μούνῳ ὑπὲρ γαίης, οἰχομένης ἀλόχου;
