εἰπέ μοι, ὦ κολόκυνθε, τίνος χάριν εἰσέτι καὶ νῦν
οὐ σικύων ἐφάνη διερὸν γένος, οὐ κολοκύνθων.
ὁ κολόκυνθος πρὸς ταῦτα
Ζηνὸς ἐπομβρήσαντος ἐπεκλύσθησαν ἄρουραι,
ἡμετέρην δ᾽ ἀέκουσαν ἔτι κρύπτουσι γενέθλην.

Tell me, pumpkin, why even so late as this the
watery tribe of cucumbers and pumpkins has not
appeared.

Zeus rained heavily and flooded the fields, which
still hide our race against our will.
