φεῦγε Λάκων ποτὲ δῆριν ὑπαντιάσασα δὲ μήτηρ
εἶπε, κατὰ στέρνων ἆορ ἀνασχομένη:
ζώων μὲν σέο μητρὶ διαμπερὲς αἶσχος ἀνάπτεις,καὶ κρατερῆς Σπάρτης πάτρια θεσμὰ λύεις:
ἢν δὲ θάνῃς παλάμῃσιν ἐμαῖς, μήτηρ μὲν ἀκούσωδύσμορος, ἀλλ᾽ ἐν ἐμῇ πατρίδι σῳζομένη.
