εὐειδὴς Τριτωνὶς ἐπ᾽ οὐκ ἀγαθαῖς ἐλοχεύθη
κλῃδόσιν οὐ γὰρ ἂν ὧδ᾽ ὤλετο δαιμονίη
ἀρτιτόκος: τὰ δὲ πολλὰ κατήγαγεν ἓν βρέφος ᾄδην
σὺν κείνῃ: δεκάτην δ᾽ οὐχ ὑπερῆρεν ἕω.

The omens were evil when fair Tritonis was brought
to bed, for otherwise she would not have perished,
unhappy girl, just after the child was born. With
her this one babe brought down to Hades so much
happiness, and it did not even live beyond the tenth
dawn.
