                "# Timon ou Denys ?\r\n\r\nSelon Gow et Page (Hellenistic Epigrams, vol. II, p. 231), l'épigramme X.38 est de Timon le Syllographe, et porte sur Dionysios d'Héraclée. \r\n\r\n\"Selon Athénée VII, 281e, Timon parle ici de Dionysos d'Héraclée (d'où le titre erroné dans P. et Plan.), philosophe stoïcien, qui passa aux épicuriens dans sa vieillesse. Toujours grâce à Athénée, nous savons que ce vers était précédé de cet autre, où la critique s'orne d'une pointe verbale : \r\nἡνίκ' ἐχρῆν δύνειν, νῦν ἄρχεται ἡδύνεσθαι, \"Quand il serait temps pour lui de la retraite, il se mit à se dissiper\". \r\n(Les Belles Lettres, t.
