τέτρωμαι πληγῇσιν ἀεικελίῃσιν ὁ τύμβος
τέτρωμ᾽, ὥς τις ἀνὴρ ἐν δαῒ λευγαλέῃ.
ταῦτα φίλα θνητοῖσι; τὸ δ᾽ αἴτιον ὡς ἀθέμιστον
τὸν νέκυν οἶον ἔχων, χρυσὸν ἀποξέομαι,

am wounded like a man in the fierce battle. Is this
what pleases mortals? And how lawless the motive!
I contain but a corpse, and am stripped of my gold.
