βάκτρον καὶ πήρη καὶ διπλόον εἷμα σοφοῖο
Διογένευς βιότου φόρτος ὁ κουφότατος.
πάντα φέρω πορθμῆι: λέλοιπα γὰρ οὐδὲν ὑπὲρ γῆς:
ἀλλὰ κύον σαίνοις Κέρβερε τόν με κύνα.

Una bisaccia, la mazza, la rozza mantella: il babaglio
di Diogene sapiente è tutto qui.
Tutto al nocchiero consegno, ché nulla lasciai sulla terra.
