ἅδιον οὐδὲν ἔρωτος, ἃ δ᾽ ὄλβια, δεύτερα πάντα
ἐστὶν ἀπὸ στόματος δ᾽ ἔπτυσα καὶ τὸ μέλι.
τοῦτο λέγει Νοσσίς: τίνα δ᾽ ἁ Κύπρις οὐκ ἐφίλασεν,
οὐκ οἶδεν κήνα γ᾽ ἄνθεα ποῖα ῥόδα.

"Nada é mais doce do que Éros, e todas as felicidades estão em segundo lugar, inclusive o mel que sai da minha boca."
Isso disse Nossis; e aquele a que Cypris não amou não saberia quão rosa são suas flores.

" Nothing is sweeter than love ; all delightful
things are second to it , and even the honey I spat
from my mouth . " This says Nossis , but if there be
one whom Cypris has not kissed , she at least knows
not what flowers roses are .
